I've noticed that the 64-bit versions of Blender for Linux are considered production quality (i.e. on par with 32-bit releases) where the version for Windows is experimental - perhaps using this version on 64-Bit Linux may fix the audio issue?

I've been considering installing Ubuntu 64-bit as a second OS for heavier Blender work I do...

Does anyone have any idea if this is the case?
