Hi Nathaniel!

If I'm right you are using blender to do the same tutorial?

My knowledge on knodes is also limited, so for nodes you should better ask an expert. I tried to figure this out with nodes, but couldn't find a way.

These are the solutions I would do:
-If every object in the bunch of objects has the same material (for example material.001), you only just have to tweak that material (for example lowering the nor value for a more flat displacement). Since they are all using the same material, they will all change in appearance. I guess you know how to add existing materials to new objects.
-If you want to use more materials, but the same displacement; more materials can use one texture, but you have to tweak settings of more materials now.

Regards and good luck on your tutorial!

Question for you!
I am trying to do a tutorial I found somewhere else, but they use Cinema 4d instead of blender. I wanting to create a bunch of objects and link them to a node so that I don't have to do the settings for each individual object. Here is the link:
http://www.gomediazine.com/tutorials/photoshop/illustrative-typography/

The step I am having trouble with is step 3. It is about 1/3 down the page.

It involves displacement mapping, and I understand how to do it your way, but I am trying to do it with a node. Does this make sense? I am very tired right now and my knowledge of the subject is low... email me if you can help or need more clarification =]

Thanks so much!!
